The work on our British Community page have impacted progress on other pages of our portal, meaning not the challenge, but sheer utter frustrations at the state of our British Sechelles - Seychelles community very many burning issues. In spite of the page being created 18/08/07 it is the last page of our project we are endevouring to work on - note also the change to community page as against History page. Its meaning for all those of our community and the vast array of institutions which impact - make up their lives. We have to battle that the frustrations, the bitterness does not get the better of us.
Had this Community portal project been funded by Sainsbury Trust or others funding bodies as we would have like, the style, approach and lay out would have been very different.
Across various page of our portal project readers, researchers, students, historians, International institutions Officials or their representatives will already have discovered numerous important and very burning issues involving and affecting our Sechelles - Seychelles EU community in Britain and the rest of EU. We do not see the need to repeat or reproduced them here. {Sechelles - Seychelles Community in EU wikipedia}
However given that we have left it as the last page of our project to work on - this ought to have given us important time and occasions - rather everybody who have been involved, made input, criticized, commented or contributed to the portal development that we not only write an Intro which will underline and emphasizes, the cooling off time, the thinking over for almost two years - why the rest of the community have not sounded more forth coming in building the British community page in comparison to the others across EU. The community expectation or disappointments - embarrassments.
Very few communities in EU have such ambitious project like ours. In case we have overlook them ask members of our community and users to point us to such projects. Having said that we do not see the need to repeat our self. One very important issue need to be made well clear to the many institutions, officials, NGO’s, Voluntary sectors, many ethnic communities who have come across our portal. Not having to remind anybody that we come from the Indian Ocean - the very important relevancy. Just like the Afro Caribbean communities their respective community web projects. The very special role and position of our nation in the Region, as a member of African Union, other African Union regional organizations - the role of our community in Britain in spite of our number 12,000 - 15,000 in comparison to the Mauritius community some 250,000. There is a very small community from Madagascar, Commore, Reunion, Illois - BIOT some 170, Maldives, the very large communities of Sir Lankans, well organized and resourced. We also see the important need to underlined the frustrations we encountered whilst we put this project together and the very important help, support form the Mauritius - Australia connection. Also the Latin American Communities in Britain.
With out having to moan about our community plight, the great opportunity we have created and provided for everybody who make up our British community in EU to get involved, contribute , suggest, discuss, inform others, space for protest if so wish - yet very little have come about. Given the Social, economic, education, IT challenges, very critical family situation, work, health , Rights issues, Financial and Housing issues, Immigration, Drug abuses, Exclusions, neighbor issues. This portal project provides our community with a very unique opportunity and platform. The amoung of money that would have required other wise for anybody to present or promote their or a respective issue. Be it Council funded, EU or the Comonwelath or African Union or the Church.
There is a great abundance of resource on the web and across Britain members, individls, friends of our community could access and link to our portal project - the surprise, lack of comprehension nothing have been done so far.
In writing this intro remind our self had we sat with former colleague from say NCVO, LVSC, the many refugee and exile agencies, the very many migrant organizations, the many council officials who will be visiting our British community page, the very many ethnic community officials, their Leaders we have known and befriended the past 30 years. Including leading politicians from the various British political parties, government officials, Trade Union officials, Church officials, Home Office officials, the ever growing numbers of policing agencies, the very many strategic and policy research institutions we have come across, used and discussed our community issues the past 30 years. Importantly too those officials from the Commonwealth and the British Royal family officials - some of the emphasis about our responsibilities for our ancestral European archaic, fraternal heritage. How they would have responded, reacted if ask for their view and comment on writing this intro for our Sechelles - Seychelles British EU community page. We have tried to remember and maintained their views in mind and how they would react.
We want to underline the fact that there exist ample resource to share with everybody - meaning that IT technology exist whereby those interested, so wishing can create a very unique page, lay out, linking projects, presence on our British Sechelles - Seychelles community page.
