Sechelles -Seychelles Communities in Ireland

House of Lords 2nd Reading Seychelles 24th May 1976

The work on our British Community page have impacted progress on other pages of our portal, meaning not the challenge, but sheer utter frustrations at the state of our British Sechelles - Seychelles community very many burning issues. In spite of the page being created 18/08/07 it is the last page of our project we are endevouring to work on - note also the change to community page as against History page. Its meaning for all those of our community and the vast array of institutions which impact - make up  their lives. We have to battle that the frustrations, the bitterness does not get the better of us.

Had this Community portal project been funded by Sainsbury Trust or others funding bodies as we would have like, the style, approach and lay out would have been very different.

Across various page of our portal project readers, researchers, students, historians, International institutions Officials or their representatives will already have discovered numerous important and very burning issues involving and affecting our Sechelles - Seychelles EU community in Britain and the rest of EU. We do not see the need to repeat or reproduced them here. {Sechelles - Seychelles Community in EU wikipedia}

However given that we have left it as the last page of our project to work on - this ought to have given us important time and occasions - rather everybody who have been involved, made input, criticized, commented or contributed to the portal development that we not only write an Intro which will underline and emphasizes, the cooling off time, the thinking over for almost two years - why the rest of the community have not sounded more forth coming in building the British community page in comparison to the others across EU. The community expectation or disappointments - embarrassments.

Very few communities in EU have such ambitious project like ours. In case we have overlook them ask members of our community and users to point us to such projects. Having said that we do not see the need to repeat our self. One very important issue need to be made well clear to the many institutions, officials, NGO’s, Voluntary sectors, many ethnic communities who have come across our portal. Not having to remind anybody that we come from the Indian Ocean - the very important relevancy. Just like the Afro Caribbean communities their respective community web projects. The very special role and position of our nation in the Region, as a member of African Union, other African Union regional organizations - the role of our community in Britain in spite of our number 12,000 - 15,000 in comparison to the Mauritius community some 250,000. There is a very small community from Madagascar, Commore, Reunion, Illois - BIOT some 170, Maldives, the very large communities of Sir Lankans, well organized and resourced. We also see the important need to underlined the frustrations we encountered whilst we put this project together and the very important help, support form the Mauritius - Australia connection. Also the Latin American Communities in Britain.

With out having to moan about our community plight, the great opportunity we have created and provided for everybody who make up our British community in EU to get involved, contribute , suggest, discuss, inform others, space for protest if so wish - yet very little have come about. Given the Social, economic, education, IT challenges, very critical family situation, work, health , Rights issues, Financial and Housing issues, Immigration, Drug abuses, Exclusions, neighbor issues. This portal project provides our community with a very unique opportunity and platform. The amoung of money that would have required other wise for anybody to present or promote their or a respective issue. Be it Council funded, EU or the Comonwelath or African Union or the Church.

There is a great abundance of resource on the web and across Britain members, individls, friends of our community could access and link to our portal project - the surprise, lack of comprehension nothing have been done so far.

In writing this intro remind our self had we sat with former colleague from say NCVO, LVSC, the many refugee and exile agencies, the very many migrant organizations, the many council officials who will be visiting our British community page, the very many ethnic community officials, their Leaders we have known and befriended the past 30 years. Including leading politicians from the various British political parties, government officials, Trade Union officials, Church officials, Home Office officials, the ever growing numbers of policing agencies, the very many strategic  and policy research institutions we have come across, used and discussed our community issues the past 30 years. Importantly too those officials from the Commonwealth and the British Royal family officials - some of the emphasis about our responsibilities for our ancestral European archaic, fraternal heritage. How they would have responded, reacted if ask for their view and comment on writing this intro for our Sechelles - Seychelles British EU community page. We have tried to remember and maintained their views in mind and how they would react.

We want to underline the fact that there exist ample resource to share with everybody - meaning that IT technology exist whereby those interested, so wishing can create a very unique page, lay out, linking projects, presence on our British Sechelles - Seychelles community page. 18/08/07 We were introduced by Mr Ralph Volcer lady friend, Ms Gabriel 3 years ago in Islington - Caledonian Rd, to the grand son of famous Lawyer Mr (David) Charles Evariste Collet a good friend of both President FA Rene and Sir James Mancham. He had come to Britain intending to study computer programming. We introduced him to the work and net work of our Seychelles community in Britain; briefly letting him know the brief role Dr Henry Naiken, then Mr Henry Naiken also related to Lawyer Mr (David) Charles Evariste Collet had played in taking over the Chair of UKSCA - maintained contact with him over the three years. We introduced him to the Student organization Dr Ah Moy presided over. The work of Mr Felix Houreau, first prominent Seychellois Councilor in Wales, the Exile organization he endeavored to start 1978. We explained to him our EU community network, the Channel Tunnel project - the Kings Cross EU Terminal. We discussed the importance of capable young Seychellois supporting our Community work in London, the many Voluntary agencies and organizations. We introduced him to our community place, at 14 Hermitage House - Gerrard Rd, Islington. He helped us carry in the building a good second hand washing machine Meile, Austrian made - donate by an Irish family in the antique business local, how the community joke about it. Also the kitchen from the Yorkshire family in the place. We also showed him the large Seychelles EU community coat of Arms on the wall. He was unable to stay in Britain in spite of the ancestral rights and return to Seychelles. We had a modest lunch at Restaurant Kaze Creole in Camden before before he left. It is 3 - 6 months since we have added the country community page to our portal project for individuals, groups, members to come forward develop a specific country page for their needs - nobody have taken this step.

The European economic situation is very grave and will worsen.

The purpose and function of that community portal project is so that in bad time - crises time - normal time to promote to promote our communities over  a common platform, for us to come together, share resources and ideas - contributing to find durable working solutions.

Every very major world economic collapse has brought with it political challenges and war. We are in such a situation.

We are very very concern that our respective communities do not  or cannot face the realities of the issues. Having stated this - there is still time for those of you out of work to come together - use the possibilities, that our community portal project offers to help put in place, information, resources, network connections, financial information and resources which can and will help support , assist members of our communities, families, individuals where ever they are to be found in the EU.  We will add this article on all the respective Country community page. This message was drafted on the 1/2 February 2009.

On Friday 6/02/09 President JA Michel address on Eden Island of the need for the diplomatic Service in Seychelles and those representing our national interest to work together to help with the economic transition and challenges ahead.                                                                                           Sunday 08/02/09
